Climbing walls? Check. Picnic spot? Check. Butterflies? Check. Walkable, quaint, and artsy? Check, check, and check. The City of Austin’s Neighborhood Partnering Program is breaking ground on Grackle Green, CNA’s new micropark and playground, in April at 2702 Drury Lane. This grassroots community project is neighbor sustained and neighbor maintained.

Many thanks to all the friends who have donated so far, including Sour Duck Market (the park’s first business sponsor), CG&S Design-Build (thanks for providing AutoCAD drawings), and The Great Outdoors Nursery (thanks for making tree donations). Cherrywood illustrator Caitlin Alexander is putting the finishing touches on the “I-Spy” design for the entrance gates and posters. Her work has been generously supported by the City’s Urban Forest Grant.

Park supporters hope to raise another $2,000 to meet their origi- nal fundraising goal. Please con- sider supporting Grackle Green by:

  • making a tax-deductible donation directly to the park

  • volunteering on Saturday, March 2, at It’s My Park Day (your sweat equity at Patterson Park counts toward the Grackle Green construction grant)

  • volunteering at Grackle Green in April and May during mulch and tree planting events

  • volunteering to mow the small green twice a year; and

  • supporting Art in the Park in June.
